OLLY OLLY SERVICES

Home Organizing

Small or big jobs, I sort, edit, and rework spaces to make them not only look better but work better for you, too.

  • Sorting/Organizing

  • Clutter removal
  • Donation

  • All areas of your home, garage, or office.

  • Decluttering for real estate photos.

Editing

Do you have more stuff than what can comfortably fit in the space? Duplicates of things you knew you bought, couldn't find, so bought it again (and now no longer want)? Clothes you once wore, but haven't put on in years and have no intention of doing so again. I'm here to help you part with things that are no longer serving you.

A great service not only for your sanity in seeing the floor of your closet again, but it’s also rather helpful if you’re needing help with downsizing for an upcoming move.

Bloom House Youth Services

301 W 11th Ave

These people are doing great work and they're a super spot to donate gently used items and food stuff. Definitely call ahead to make sure they want what you've got.

Shred-It® Paper Shredding

So you've got a sea of papers that you can't handle on your own? I haven't worked with these folks yet, but I've seen their truck - so they must do business here. Check them out.

Household Hazardous Waste

Think old paint, batteries, florescent lights, etc. that are cluttering up your garage. Click the above link for the city's full list of items they'll take. They won't do CRT TVs or monitors (old school tvs).

Looks like Best Buy can take CRT TVs - they actually recycle quite a bit. I know we don't have one here in Emporia, the closest is in Topeka, but they might be a good option if you need to recycle a TV, a fridge, random wires, and your cell phone all in one go. Some fees may apply for their services.

The Process

You'll reach out and make contact, we'll discuss the job and I'll answer any questions you may have. Initial appointments are for a 4-hour block, which may seem like a lot of time, but it's really an adequate amount to either get a good start on something big or finish a smaller project. If 4 hours ends up being too much, we can always put the remainder to use another day or for another project.

I'll come the day and time that we have scheduled, we'll talk a little bit more about the project once I'm there, and then, we'll jump in and get started. I say "we" because you may or may not want to be hands-on. Some people are, some aren't. Either way works.

By the end of our time, if you're donating items, I'll happily take one car load per session, I will drop off items at Goodwill or Salvation Army and will collect a receipt for your records.

I am not a cleaning person. Of course, I will clean-up the area that I'm working in, but as far as typical cleaning services go, that isn't the service I provide.

So how much does all of this cost anyway? Click on the button to head to pricing.

Resources

I can't speak highly enough about the book, The Hoarder in You by Dr. Robin Zasio. It's not for hoarding only, it's for anyone who has stuff. And that's everyone! She offers up awesome encouragement, understanding, and ideas for how to move forward. If you're a reader, I definitely suggest checking it out.

The Life Changing Art of Tidying Up by Marie Kondo, highlighting her KonMari method, is also a solid read. I don't find it to be as practical in the long run, but it's certainly motivating and the inspiring push you might need.

The Gentle Art of Swedish Death Cleaning by Margareta Magnusson, is a short read on "how to free yourself and family from a lifetime of clutter." In a nutshell, plan ahead and do the work now, in order to make life easier for your loved ones after your'e gone.

YouTube - Marriage & Motherhood did an awesome job of talking about the process of hiring an organizer and having lots of struggles that you might be able to relate to. She's got kids, marriage, a home, a career, all of the things to juggle.
